This past weekend we traveled North to Genesee Idaho. My dad lives there and we hadn't seen him since my mother's funeral a year ago April so we thought it being Jef's birthday and University of Idaho's homecoming we would make a trip. We all had a great time. My dad babysat (even changed a messy diaper with Logan's help) on Friday and Jef and I went to dinner. We went to our favorite Chinese Restuarant of all time The New Garden in Pullman Washington. It was soooo yummy and reminded us of old times. On Saturday we went to the UI homecoming parade with the kids and then back to Genesee. My dad took Logan and Mason on their first boat ride and fishing.
They caught a fish and boy was that exciting for the boys as much as it was for grandpa. They wouldn't hold it though, we finally talked Mason into it, but no fingers in the mouth or gills. Grandpa Doug's friend Dee helped the boys with the fish. Mason reeled it in first then Dee let out the line and Logan got to real it in as well.
We also got to visit with my Uncle Bob he is looking much healthier than he has in years, which is nice to see. It was a fun trip but as always cut too short. We hope to see them both again soon. Grandpa Doug we LOVE you!!!
This is a picture of Mason, Uncle Bob, Logan, Cole and Grandpa Doug.
Cole is looking out the door in the picture because my step-brother Tanner had shot a black bear on Saturday and had it on the back of his trailer right outside the door. Cole was very scared and kept telling us the bear was sleeping on the "trailee." BTW the bear stunk real bad!!

WOW, that's one big fish! I'm glad they boys enjoyed fishing and you guys got see a game. GO VANDALS!!!!!
Im sure the boys had fun with thier grandpa. Thats funny they wouldn't touch it, boys like to do gross things. I think it is fun to go down memory lane and visit the places that you both love. Jef probably had the best birthday by watching the vandal football game.
What great memories and catching that first fish is so fun. You can tell the boys that Grandma Clark hated to touch fish, too, and even hated to hold the worms to bait the hook! But we become braver over the years. I can only imagine seeing a bear on the "trailee" and how that would be a concern for Cole. Glad Jef had a fun bday, too. We can't wait to see everyone soon.
Yeah the bear thing creeps me out and I am not even there to see it.
There is something very special about Grandparents. They will remember the fishing and the bear for the rest of their lives. Glad that you had fun visiting your old stomping grounds. I love reading about your family.
Good words.
