First ER trip with Cole

Yes it is true, we (Mason and I) made our first trip to the ER with Cole yesterday. I had sent the boys upstairs to the toy room to play so I could finish talking to Wendy on the phone. After that conversation I decided to call Mary about some of the things Wendy had told me, and the boys were playing really good. Not two minutes into talking with Mary do I hear a thump and then crying, not just any crying but hurt crying from Cole. He started to walk down the stairs and by time he got to me the blood was flowing from his eye. So I said "Mary gotta go he's bleeding!" and hung up. Sure enough it was pretty bad and I called Jef who said do whatever, I would stay home. That doesn't really calm me down or give me any direction when he says that. So I called my good friend Melissa who was an ER nurse. She said about the same thing, but that I probably should take him, she probably wouldn't but that it might be a good idea to take him in. So off we went, no lunch yet and it was 12:20. Cole thought we were going somewhere fun and Mason KNEW where we were going, not 6 months ago we were there with him and a broken arm.

Cole did really well until they took us into a room and he had to get on the bed. It really freaked him out for whatever reason. He layed perfectly still until the doctor came in to look at it. Sure enough he needed stitches two or three to be exact. I immediatly asked if we could do the glue, remembering that both Braden and Bailee had it and Cam said it was cool stuff. The doc said sure and that is what we got one big cut glued up.

We went to McDonald's afterwards, Mason was really hungry and Cole needed some special treat to calm him down. After all was said and done he walks around telling me his cheek hurts. Not sure why but apparently your eye is close to your cheek and that is what hurts him.

Sorry no pictures, the camera is still out of commission. I cannot find the battery charger for the battery. BTW today was picture day and school and Cole was going to go in and get his pictures done too, but we didn't do that with the big purple puffy eye.

Ah, poor Cole. He will just have to get healing kisses from his auntie when she comes. I'm sure the boys will tell me all about it.

WOW, good for him to be brave while they fixed him up. So, when the kids are older, they won't be able to swap stich counts? They will talk about all the times they got glued?!? Sounds cool----

Emergency room visits are a part of growing up, glad he did so well and all things are on the mend. That glue thing sounds pretty neat. Aren't we glad for Dr. Cam and for McDonalds??!!

The emergency room used to know us by our first names. Sorry about the injury. How clever of you to have darling shamrock paper as your backdrop. Hope you are doing well.
