Easter for me growing up was always lots of fun. We always went to Grandma Arbaugh's house and died eggs on Saturday. She always had a ton of eggs boiled and ready to go, it seemed that each of us grandkids got to do at least a dozen a piece. We wrote on them with white crayons so that our names would be there magically after we took the eggs out of the die. We would even hide them outside and go "hunt" them. Then on Sunday we we would go to her house again for dinner and sometimes even to Grandma Kump's house for dinner too.
The Easter Bunny always hid eggs for us inside or outside the house depending on the weather. He always hid our baskets as well. I will never forget the year I couldn't find my basket. I remember crying and thinking I didn't get anything. Turns out it was right in front of my eyes on the counter, maybe mom and dad moved to help me out because I was soo upset. That was the year I got a new pair of white leather sandals to go with my new Easter dress Grandma Arbaugh had either made or bought for me. She probably bought the shoes too as I sort of remember trying them on with her at the old Penny's in Jerome. Yes there used to be a Sears and JC Penny's in Jerome right downtown.
So with all that being said, Jef and I have never really done anything special for our kids on Easter. The first part of Logan and Mason's life I worked every Easter so I was never home in the morning to partake in egg hunts or baskets. I think we did baskets, but I don't remember. Then Cole's first Easter was the weekend of my mom's funeral, so Easter was put on the way back burner that year. Last year we didn't really do anything again, so this year I decided we were going to do something different.
On the Sunday before Easter we watched the video Lamb of God and talked about Jesus' life and the purpose of it and what happened in the video. I did have something planned to do everynight to represent the last 7 days of his life but those things never really happened, as I got busy and forgot. Maybe next year! Then on Saturday we died eggs and Sunday they woke up to have found jelly bean filled plastic eggs to match eaches likes or personality and a hollow chocolate bunny and one special toy for them. Logan's plastic eggs were sports balls and he received the Wii game Super Smash Brothers, Mason's plastic egggs were silly faced eggs and he received the Wii game My Sims, finally Cole got Lightening McQueen eggs and a Lightening McQueen bucket to keep his Cars in.
We finished the day with Jef's favorite dinner, Habby Too New Mexico Green Chile Pulled Pork and talked about each child's sunday school lesson. It is great to hear Logan repeat something we have all ready told him and he tells us his teacher taught him something as though he has never heard it before. Kids!

It is good to see my smiling boys!!! Glad you were able to have a rockin' fun Easter
It was fun reading about how you spent your Easter growing up. It brought memories of doing much of the same things as I grew up, too. Your kids will remember these special Easter traditions that you are creating. We watched Lamb of God, too, at FHE Monday night with the YSA. It impacted those that came and they wrote their testimonies after to send to the missionaries serving from the branch. The boys look so happy and I know they had a great day. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend.
Very cute photos. The kids are growing up so big and seems really fast to us since we don't see them that often. Happy Spring! XOXO
